Shawn Pettis was charged Monday, June 12 with assault among other charges, Atlantic City police said.
At 2:56 p.m., Officers Salvatore Rando and Anthony Abrams saw a man with an active warrant in the area of the Boardwalk near New York Avenue.
The charges stemmed from an incident that occurred on June 11 between Pettis and a woman, police said.
The woman sustained injuries after being assaulted and sought treatment at the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Division.
Additionally, following his arrest, Pettis was found to be in possession of 50 bags of heroin, police said.
In addition to assault, he was charged with numerous drug offenses.
Pettis was sent to the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
